Why I Changed From Aesthetics By Kristen to SCAR ATELIER
A lot of people have asked me lately why I changed the business name from Aesthetics By Kristen to Scar Atelier… and honestly, it feels like the business has naturally evolved into what it was always supposed to become.
When I first started in aesthetics, I was doing a bit of everything. I loved cosmetic nursing, loved skin, loved helping people feel more confident, and Aesthetics By Kristen fit where I was at in that stage of my career.
But as time went on, I noticed I kept getting pulled more and more towards scar work, skin healing, and regenerative treatments.
And I think a lot of that actually comes from my nursing background.
Before aesthetics, I worked in Emergency Nursing, and one thing I always found really interesting was wounds and how the body heals. Skin healing is honestly incredible when you really think about it. The body is constantly trying to repair itself after trauma, surgery, injury, acne, inflammation… all of it.
That side of nursing always stayed with me.
So when I moved into aesthetics, I naturally became really interested in treatments that support regeneration and healing - not just “beauty” treatments.
Over the last year especially, scar revision and stretch mark treatments have become such a huge part of what I do. And the thing I love most about this area is that it’s so much deeper than appearance.
People carry a lot emotionally with scars.
Sometimes it’s from surgery. Sometimes acne. Sometimes trauma. Sometimes things they’ve spent years hiding or feeling self-conscious about. And being able to help someone feel more comfortable in their skin again is honestly one of the most rewarding parts of my job.
That’s where the name Scar Atelier came from.
I wanted something that felt more aligned with the direction the clinic was going. Something a little more elevated, but also more reflective of the work itself.
An atelier is traditionally an artist’s studio or workshop — and honestly, scar work feels like a mix of nursing, science, healing and artistry all together. There’s so much precision and individuality involved. No two scars are the same. No two treatment plans are the same.
The new name just feels more me.
It doesn’t mean I stopped loving aesthetics - because I still do. I still love natural cosmetic work, skin treatments and helping people feel refreshed and confident. But now the clinic has a much stronger focus on skin regeneration, scar revision, stretch mark rejuvenation and treatments that support long-term skin health.
I think the biggest thing is that Scar Atelier feels more purposeful.
Less about chasing trends.
More about healing, confidence and real skin.
And honestly… I feel really proud of the direction it’s heading in and excited for what the future holds.
